Is Water Street Studios a nonprofit?

Yes, we are a 501(c)3 not for profit, or what we like to call “for-purpose”, organization. We rely on the generous support of individuals, foundations, businesses, and more to support our programming.

When can I come visit?

We are open to the public Friday-Sunday from 12PM-4PM. You can explore our 14,000 sq. ft. facility, visit our 26 artist studio spaces, catch a demo, and more. Unable to visit during those times? Just call us in advance and schedule a visit.

What is the history behind the building?

Built in the 1890s, our facility was once used to build windmills. During WW2, efforts shifted to manufacture shells. Now it houses one of the largest art studios in all of the Chicagoland Suburbs!

What does Water Street Studios actually do?

Everything art! We have several galleries, resident artists, art classes, events, creative spaces and so on.

What does it mean to be a pARTner?

It means you’ll receive benefits like discounts on classes, event rentals, and more in exchange for supporting us. Similar to a “membership” program. All proceeds go to support our programming at Water Street Studios.
