My background with art started at a young age. I remember as a child creating my own illustrations for favorite books if I didn’t like the ones published. After graduating from Southern Illinois University, I spent my professional career as a graphic designer working for Fortune 500 companies, eventually starting my own business, Resolution Creative.
In recent years I began to focus on creating representational colored pencil art, becoming a resident at Water Street Studios in 2010. Being at Water Street has encouraged me to further develop my fine art skills.
My work is based on my experiences, working from my original photographs of places I have been, scenes from nature, musicians, and animals. Capturing textures in 2D art fascinates me. Viewers are often surprised that my work is created with colored pencil; the richness and depth of color achieved looks more like a painting.
In addition to my graphic design business, I have taught graphic design at a college level for over 25 years, and teach colored pencil classes at Water Street Studios.
